Following a ruling by the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), Champlain Township Council has voted to support revisions to the draft plan of subdivision for a proposed development in Vankleek Hill.

On Thursday, June 25, council adopted a resolution to support an extension of the draft subdivision approval by five years for the proposed Park View Homes (formerly Cliftondale) subdivision. Council had previously rejected the Official Plan Amendment (OPA) required for the extension of the draft subdivision approval, but it was appealed to the OLT. On March 18, the OLT adopted the OPA and granted the extension. The Park View project will have 95 residential units consisting of 79 townhouses and a 16-unit multi-residential block.

Councillor Paul-Emile Duval asked if there will be a buffer zone between the residential development and nearby railroad tracks.

Planning staff said documents are being reviewed about setbacks from the railroad tracks, along with any comments from Canadian National (CN) as part of the detailed design process to determine any buffer zone.
