There are now two or more candidates for every position on Champlain Township Council in the October 26 municipal election.
As of August 3, Corina Parisien and incumbent Normand Riopel are the two candidates for Mayor.
In Ward 1 Vankleek Hill, the candidates for the two council seats as of August 3 are Bruce Golden and Martin Kaufman.
The two candidates for Councillor in Ward 2 L’Orignal are incumbent Michel Lalonde and Roch Pilon.
Incumbent Paul Burroughs and Claude Laflamme are the two candidates in Ward 3 Longueuil.
Ward 4 West Hawkesbury is the only ward with more than two candidates for Councillor as of August 3. Eric Larocque, incumbent Gerry Miner, and Greg Ross are the three candidates in that ward.
Each ward in Champlain Township elects two councillors. More candidates may be nominated before the deadline of 2 pm on Friday, August 21.
