The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from the Optimist Club of Hawkesbury to  support of the acquisition of HAL, a state-of-the-art pediatric simulation mannequin.

The official cheque presentation took place at HGH, where Optimist Club members were invited to take part in a hands-on demonstration led by HGH nurse educators. This gave them the chance to see firsthand how HAL works and the important role it plays in clinical training.

HAL allows clinical teams to train for complex and realistic pediatric scenarios in a safe, controlled environment. The mannequin can simulate a wide range of medical situations, helping staff build their skills, improve response times, and ultimately provide safer care for young patients.

“This generous gift from the Optimist Club of Hawkesbury will have a direct and lasting impact on the quality of care provided to children in our region,” said Erin Tabakman, Executive Director of the Foundation. “By supporting training and clinical excellence, the Optimist Club is helping bring better care closer to home.”

For many years, the Optimist Club of Hawkesbury has played an important role in supporting local initiatives focused on the wellbeing of children and families, and this donation strongly reflects that mission. The HGH Foundation extends its sincere thanks to the Optimist Club for its generosity, commitment, and continued support.
