The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) is in the final stages of construction of the new Prescott and Russell Residence. The project began in the winter of 2021 and will be completed by the end of Fall, 2024.

Once the work is completed, the final quality control inspections will be conducted, including those from the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care. These will confirm that the building is ready to safely welcome residents. A moving date will be set after receiving satisfactory results.

“It is with pride that we are about to begin a pivotal stage of this important project, which brings us considerably closer to its completion. It is, however, more essential than ever to demonstrate thoroughness and diligence in order to guarantee the excellence for which the Residence is known for,” said UCPR Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Stéphane P. Parisien.

“Building a new long-term care home is not just a question of materials and equipment. There is an essential human aspect to consider. Our teams are fully mobilized to ensure that the new Residence is ready to welcome residents, their families, and the employees in an optimal environment,” added UCPR Warden Normand Riopel.

A reminder that the new Prescott and Russell Residence will cover an area of 193,000 square feet and will have 224 beds; this will be 109,000 square feet and 78 beds more than the current facility. The design far exceeds the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care.
