The Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual in North Glengarry who barricaded himself inside a residence.
On April 7, 2024, shortly before 11:30 a.m. officers responded to Wylie Road in the North Glengarry, where an individual had made threats toward others and barricaded himself in the residence. Members of the SD&G Detachment, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the scene and the individual was safely taken into custody.
Skyler BELANGER, aged 20 of North Glengarry, was charged with:
- Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
- Assault a Peace Officer with a weapon two counts.
There were no injuries and no threat to public safety. There was a significant police presence in the area at the time.
The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
