After eight editions, the curtain is about to fall on the Soirée Reconnaissance Hawkesbury Gala Tapis Rouge. However, the outgoing president of the volunteer recognition program is hoping its mission continues in the community.

From 2013 to 2023, aside from the pandemic years, the annual Reconnaissance Hawkesbury gala has recognized more than 50 people and organizations for their volunteerism and contribution to community life in the town of Hawkesbury.

The apolitical Reconnaissance Hawkesbury committee selected organizations and individuals based on merit for annual recognition.

“We must thank our many loyal sponsors for their generosity and participation; because without them it would have been impossible to succeed in such a project during these eight memorable galas,” said outgoing Reconnaissance Hawkesbury President Gilles Roch Greffe.

He described Reconnaissance Hawkesbury’s contribution as a civic achievement and thanked the community’s volunteers. He suggested other individuals or organizations in the community should consider carrying on the work of Reconnaissance Hawkesbury.

“We sincerely believe that the torch of such a social and affable event must be taken up to continue to celebrate and applaud local volunteering,” Roch Greffe said.

All people or organizations interested in carrying on the mission of Reconnaissance Hawkesbury are invited to contact Roch Greffe at [email protected] or 613-636-0818 before April 30.
