24 active cases of COVID-19 in Prescott and Russell on June 11

On Thursday, June 11, there were 124 resolved cases of COVID-19, and 29 active cases within the jurisdiction of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU).  There were 24 active cases among residents of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell and 86 resolved cases.  Among residents of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SD & G), there were three active cases and 23 resolved cases.  There were two active cases in the City of Cornwall and 15 resolved cases.

Within the EOHU territory on Thursday, two COVID-19 patients were in hospital, and one patient was in intensive care.

Institutional outbreak

As of June 11, an outbreak of COVID-19 had returned at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet.  A previous outbreak at the facility, which resulted in 11 deaths, had been declared over on May 30.  A second institutional outbreak of COVID-19 under EOHU jurisdiction remains in effect at the St-Viateur Nursing Home in Limoges.


There are five testing and assessment centres throughout the EOHU`s jurisdiction.  As of June 11, 10,990 people had been tested for COVID-19 at the five centres, and by paramedics making home visits.

Across Ontario

Throughout Ontario as of Thursday, June 11, there had been 31,544 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far.  On June 11, 82.1 per cent of the 31,544 cases were listed by the Ministry of Health as resolved.

There were 538 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Ontario on June 11, 120 patients were in intensive care, and 87 patients were on ventilators.

As of Tuesday, there had been 2,487 deaths due to COVID-19 across Ontario.
