Driving tests in Québec will resume on Monday.
The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) will resume carrying out practical driving tests on June 15 for all licence classes. The SAAQ will call customers whose practical exam appointment was to take place in March, April, or May, and who have completed their training, to give them a new appointment as a priority.
For motorcyclists (classes 6A, 6B and 6C), an online meeting grid will be open from June 11. The appointment grids for driving tests for a car (class 5) and a heavy vehicle (classes 1, 2 and 3) will be open from June 22. To make an appointment, customers are invited to use the Company’s online services.
In order to ensure the safety of the clientele and the evaluating staff, several sanitary measures are in place. For example, in the case of automobile and heavy vehicle driving tests:
- The client’s vehicle will be disinfected before and after the examination.
- A plastic cover will be installed on the front passenger seat of the vehicle for the examiner.
- The examiner will wear a mask and goggles or a visor, which will be replaced or washed between each exam.
In the case of a motorcycle driving test:
- The bib and the headset worn by the customer will be disinfected.
The SAAQ strongly recommends that its customers wear a mask during a driving test, as recommended by the Government of Québec with regard to public places where the physical distance of two metres is not possible. In addition, if a client has symptoms related to COVID-19, they will be asked to postpone their appointment to a later date.
