On February 2, 2019, women and men adorned in pink attended an “Evening in Pink” all in support of breast cancer. Nicole Trottier, member of the Hawkesbury Legion organized an evening of dining, dancing, and silent auction to raise funds for breast cancer, a cause she holds dear to her heart. Trottier and her team of volunteers collected $4,860 and the Hawkesbury Legion generously donated $1000, bringing the total funds raised to $5,860. These funds will be allocated to the Ontario Breast Screening Program department at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH). The HGH Foundation would like to thank Trottier and her volunteers and the Hawkesbury Legion for their continuous support.

About the Ontario Breast Screening Program

The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) is a province-wide effort aimed at women aged 50 to 74 (Ontario residents only) who are at average risk for breast cancer. They can get a mammography every two years. Women aged 30 to 69 (Ontario residents only) who are identified as being at high risk for breast cancer can get an annual mammography and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) screening.

For more information about the OBSP program at the HGH, please visit their website: www.hgh.ca and click on the header Programs and Services.

The HGH Foundation’s mission is to raise funds in order to improve the care and services offered to the community by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital.
