On the evening of Thursday, July 13, the Glengarry Pioneer Museum will be hosting Montreal-based string trio Nü Trio. Starting at 8 p.m., the group will play classical melodies such as  Beethoven’s String Trio No.1 in E-Flat major Op.3, Hayden’s Divertimento in G major, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Barber’s Adagio for Strings.

The evening, entitled “Music Under the Stars,” will take place on the grounds of the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan (located at the intersection of County Roads 24 and 30). The show will go on rain or shine – in case of bad weather, it will be moved to the Williams Pavilion and seating will be provided. If not, visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and picnics if they so desire.

As for Nü Trio – the story began when violinist Veronika Cherniak and bassist Matthew Goulet met in an orchestra for the conductors of McGill University. Since then, their group was joined by Lauren Tyros on viola, who will not be attending this concert – instead, Jennifer Thiessen, member and co-founder of the trio Cénacle, will be standing in. Although they have never before played in Ontario, Cherniak grew up in Cornwall.

While there’s no formal admission, the Museum asks that visitors make a recommended donation of $15.
