On Friday, July 17, United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) Warden and Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth was elected Vice-Chair of the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus (EOWC) at a Board of Directors meeting. The EOWC Board is composed of the Warden’s of 11 county governments and two single-tier municipal governments across Eastern Ontario from Kawartha Lakes in the west to the UCPR in the east. The Chair of the EOWC is Peterborough County Warden Bonnie Clark.
The EOWC advocates for the interests of regional governments across Eastern Ontario. In a social media post on Friday, the EOWC announced it is looking forward to Zanth’s leadership and contributions as the EOWC continues to advance the shared priorities of Eastern Ontario municipalities and strengthen advocacy on issues that matter most to rural and small, urban communities.
Zanth also intends to run for another term as Mayor of Clarence-Rockland in the October 26 municipal election.
