From July 2 to August 9, 2026, the Arbor Gallery presents two exhibitions that explore the beauty of everyday experience and the joy of creative expression. In the main gallery, Erica Taylor presents Lines of Sight, while the Arber Room features a collection of works by Leola Meagher.
A multidisciplinary artist from Ormstown, Québec, now living in Williamstown, Ontario, Erica Taylor created the works in Lines of Sight during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as daily sketches of her home, shared online to stay connected with friends, quickly became a source of comfort and inspiration for many. Known as the “Covid sketches,” these drawings capture familiar domestic scenes, treasured objects, and quiet corners with honesty, humour, and careful observation.
Through these intimate works, Taylor encourages viewers to rediscover the significance of everyday spaces and the memories attached to the objects that surround us. Five years later, the sketches continue to resonate, offering a reminder of connection, resilience, and the value of looking closely at the ordinary.
In the Arber Room, Leola Meagher presents Summer Medley, a vibrant selection of paintings reflecting her passion for experimentation and discovery. A retired teacher who began painting nine years ago after moving to L’Orignal, Ontario, Meagher works in oil, acrylic mixed media, watercolour, and alcohol inks. Her intuitive approach embraces the unexpected, allowing each painting to evolve naturally as it takes shape.
Meagher is also the author of Footprints of a Pioneer and sees a strong connection between writing and painting. Guided by her motto, “One must ASPIRE to INSPIRE before we EXPIRE,” she believes art brings balance and harmony to a complex world.
“Together, these exhibitions celebrate the power of creativity to transform everyday experiences into meaningful artistic expression,” says Annie-France Bowker, Artistic Director of the Arbor Gallery.
Both exhibitions will be celebrated with a vernissage on Saturday, July 4, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Arbor Gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is always free.
