Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Canada Day in Champlain Township with two days of festivities at L’Orignal Beach on Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1.

Hosted by the Township of Champlain and the L’Orignal Firefighters Association, the annual celebration will feature live entertainment, family activities, food vendors, refreshments, and a fireworks display over the Ottawa River.

The festivities begin on June 30 with an evening celebration from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy the outdoor beer tent and food offerings, including Sweet Billy’s Food Truck. Local musician Justin Roy will perform live at 8 p.m. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m., presented by Magic Sky Pyrotechnie.

Canada Day activities continue on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Families can enjoy inflatable castles, a water slide, face painting, music, sports, games, and free popcorn throughout the day.

Food and refreshments will be available on site, including offerings from Chez Kim Restaurant, Sweet Billy’s Food Truck, Sweet Antlers, beef sandwiches on kaiser buns, and more. An outdoor beer tent will also be open during the day’s festivities.

Organizers remind attendees that this is a licensed event and outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the site.

The celebration is made possible through the support of numerous sponsors, including the Knights of Columbus of L’Orignal, Ivaco Rolling Mills, the Government of Canada’s Celebrate Canada Program, Asselin Independent, Schultz Barrette Surveying, USW Local 8794, Petit Pain Bakery, Home Hardware Hawkesbury, and the L’Orignal Food Bank.

Everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations and enjoy free Canada Day festivities along the waterfront at L’Orignal Beach.
