An individual from South Glengarry is facing a series of charges related to a vehicle theft following a pursuit north of Cornwall.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), on Monday, May 18, shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle, originally reported by the Cornwall Police Service, travelling at a high rate of speed on County Road 43. Officers attempted to bring the vehicle to a stop, including the deployment of a tire deflating device on Highway 138 near Wheeler Road. Shortly after the driver was involved in a single vehicle collision.
The two occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Both individuals were located in the area a short time later.
Dominick Flaro-Breyer, 19 years old of South Glengarry, is charged with:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Obstruct peace officer
- Mischief over $5,000
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud)
- Fail to remain
- Fail to report accident
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court at a later date.
