The Vial of Life is a free service where individuals store their crucial medical information such as medications, allergies, and contact details. Information is placed in a free, specially marked container inside the door of a home freezer or refrigerator. Information about do-not-resuscitate directions may also be included, if signed by a doctor.

The best part about this free service is that it comes with a sticker for the refrigerator or freezer door that will tell paramedics vital information is inside on a form that comes with the Vial of Life. It can be lifesaving for those who live alone or are alone most of the time.

Imagine if you called 911 and the paramedics show up and you are unable to speak. They know to look for a Vial of Life sticker on the refrigerator door that tells them your information is inside.

Vankleek Hill Pharmacy, thanks to the courtesy of Pharmacist George Gabra, has the vials for pickup. Thanks to the United Counties of Prescott and Russell Department of Emergency Services paramedics for contributing vials from their headquarters in Plantagenet. Vial of Life is sponsored by the United Way.
