The 2025 JP St. Pierre Award was presented on Saturday, November 22 at the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) Warden’s Banquet in Alfred. Each year, the award is presented to a resident of the UCPR for their contributions to community life. This year’s recipient is Mireille Dauth, a dedicated volunteer for more than 25 years with the Friends of the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital. Dauth notably served as President of the organization for over 15 years, supporting countless patients during their care at the regional healthcare facility. This award is presented each year to a deserving resident who has had a positive impact in the community.
The 2025 Warden’s Award was presented to Mélanie Gratton, Deputy Treasurer at the UCPR for the past 20 years. She was recognized for her dedication, outstanding professional skills, and contributions to the Finance Department.
The funds raised during the Warden’s Golf Tournament and Banquet held during the past summer will be distributed to non-profit and community organizations at the Inaugural Meeting of the new UCPR Warden to be held on December 17. Since 2018, more than $195,000 has been distributed to the community.
The banquet honoured 2025 UCPR Warden Yves Laviolette, who is also the Mayor of Alfred and Plantagenet. This year was Laviolette’s second time as Warden. In 1988, he was UCPR Warden while also the Reeve of the former municipality of the Township of Alfred.
The 2025 Warden’s Banquet was presented by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital and also commemorated the 175th anniversary of the incorporation of the UCPR. Local elected officials, representatives from numerous community organizations and the business community, community leaders, and Laviolette’s family and friends paid tribute to his year at the head of the regional government.
“It is deeply moving to see so many local people come together to celebrate our community’s successes. I have often said that a community is only as strong as the bonds that unite it. Tonight, we witnessed our beautiful region come together, and I am honoured and extremely grateful,” said Laviolette.
