An artisan market at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre on Saturday, October 4, raised more than $1,250 to help local boy, Gavin Stuart, purchase a new pair of EnChroma glasses. EnChroma glasses help people with colour vision deficiency see a broader and more distinct range of colours.

The event was organized by Gavin’s aunt, Donna Stuart, after the original benefiting charity had to withdraw due to logistical issues.

Gavin has worn prescription glasses since the age of seven, but his changing prescription means he now needs a new pair of EnChroma lenses.

Gavin’s mother, Gaetanne, tattoo artist and co-owner of Gaets Ink, offered flash tattoos to support the fundraiser, joining several other local vendors and artisans.

The community response was overwhelming, with donations and sales combining to help Gavin purchase his new glasses.
