While voters in Rigaud have multiple candidates contesting every council seat in the November 2 municipal elections, Pointe-Fortune has five council seats acclaimed.
Rigaud
Rigaud voters will choose a new mayor in a race between two current councillors: Kevin Ménard (fourth seat, elected 2021) and Charles Meunier (first seat, elected 2017). Mayor Marie-Claude Frigault, elected in 2021, is not seeking re-election.
Council’s first seat will have Jamie Nicholls of Ensemble Rigaud and Nathalie Wilson competing for the position.
The second seat is contested by Catherine Larose (Ensemble Rigaud), Radu Neacsu, and Edouard Lawlor. The third seat is between Cynthia Poulin-Huard (Ensemble Rigaud) and Juliette Rochman.
Council’s fourth seat is a three-way competition between Carole Forget, Caroline Quesnel, and Mélisande Giraldeau (Ensemble Rigaud).
Incumbent fifth seat councillor Yves Pelletier (Ensemble Rigaud, elected 2021) is seeking re-election against Élie Forest. Sixth seat councillor Alain Lapointe (Ensemble Rigaud, elected 2017) is also seeking re-election, facing Michel Berichon.
Advance voting is Sunday, October 26, from noon to 8 p.m., at the Paul-Brasseur Building at 10 Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste East. Election-day voting takes place at Bourget College at 65 Rue Saint-Pierre between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
