The holiday season is upon us, and Champlain Library is proud to announce the return of A Book on Every Bed. Now in its 14th year, this annual program brings joy to local children and seniors through the simple act of giving books.
How It Works
Each year, we partner with the Vankleek Hill and L’Orignal food banks to connect donors with children who could use a little extra holiday magic. By participating in A Book on Every Bed, you’ll be helping provide a new book to a child in need, making their Christmas morning that much more joyful.
Steps to Participate:
- Sign Up: Call the library at 613-678-2216 or visit us in person to be matched with a child. You do not need to be a library member.
- Choose a Book: Buy a new, age-appropriate book. We ask that the book be lighthearted and fun—please avoid books with dark or heavy themes, such as violence or serious emotional topics. If you’re unsure, we’ll have suggestions available at the library.
- Pack It Up: Place the book in a gift bag.
- Drop It Off: Bring your donation to the library by December 2nd. This ensures every child gets their new book in time for Christmas!
Spread Cheer to Local Seniors
In addition to supporting children, A Book on Every Bed also collects donations for residents of local seniors’ residences in Vankleek Hill and L’Orignal. We’re accepting new magazines and activity books (like coloring books, word searches, and crossword puzzles).
How to Donate for Seniors:
- Pick Your Donation: Purchase a new magazine or an activity book to donate.
- Drop It Off: Bring your donation to the library by December 2nd.
Help Make the Holidays Brighter
Your support makes a big difference in the lives of children and seniors in our community. By donating, you’re helping bring smiles, spark imaginations, and make this holiday season a little brighter for everyone.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
