North Glengarry Council decided at their October 15 meeting that they would not yet approve changes to the Parks and Recreation Action Plan (PRAP) after citing the need to make some changes and minor tweaks. An additional review was recommended by council to ensure the plan was up to the best standards for the Township and its goals.

An updated PRAP was presented to council and required further amendments before council would approve it. The PRAP highlights the broad vision of North Glengarry’s Parks and Recreation installations and future to ensure the three presented pillars identified in the project are met by 2027. The three main pillars were to grow recreation capacity, foster community partnerships, and champion active living, inclusion, and accessibility in the Township.

“We have community halls all over North Glengarry where people would appreciate having a little more programming offered in their community. It’s something I would like to see this plan focus a little bit more on in terms of making that a reality,” Deputy Mayor Carma Williams acknowledged.

Priorities were set that focused on welcoming, safe, and accessible environments for the Township’s communities, emphasizing a quality experience at affordable costs.

Councillor Michael Madden suggested, “It’s almost there, but there’s a significant amount of proofreading that needs to be done. I’m thinking we better clean it up and then we’ll move it forward.”

Council unanimously voted in favour of a deferral until these changes were applied and ready for another review.
