National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) is a time to recognize the valuable contributions of Canadians with disabilities and promote efforts to create a more accessible and inclusive society. The Champlain Library is proud to participate in this week-long celebration from May 26 to June 1.

Our library is committed to accessibility year-round. We have a wheelchair ramp to ensure easy entry into the building, and our staff has AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) training to assist patrons with diverse needs. We offer large print books, audiobooks, and ebooks available through the Libby app, which is compatible with screen readers and includes many other accessibility features. Additionally, we provide a homebound service for those who cannot visit the library in person.

Inside the library, you’ll find a computer station with an accessible keyboard, a height-adjustable table, and a hand magnifier to assist with reading and computer use. As well as decodable books for kids having difficulty in learning to decode (read aloud) and to spell. These resources are part of our ongoing effort to make our library a welcoming place for everyone.

We invite you to visit the library during NAAW to learn about our accessibility options, either for you or someone you care about with a disability. Let’s work together to break down barriers and celebrate the diversity that makes our community vibrant and strong.

Join us in celebrating National AccessAbility Week, because small changes can make a big difference!
