Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) in Alexandria has completed renovations to its resuscitation room, integrating negative pressure technology to enhance patient care and safety during critical medical interventions.

With the addition of negative pressure capabilities, the facility is poised to provide an even higher level of care for patients requiring urgent medical attention, particularly those with infectious diseases.

“Ensuring the utmost safety and efficacy in resuscitative efforts is paramount in our mission to delivering outstanding care for our communities,” said HGMH President and CEO Robert Alldred-Hughes.

Negative pressure technology creates an environment where air flows into the room but does not escape, effectively containing airborne contaminants within the space and filtering them safely outside. This critical feature reduces the risk of cross-contamination, safeguarding both patients and healthcare providers during high-stake medical procedures.

The renovated resuscitation room is equipped with state-of-the-art ventilation systems and meticulously engineered airflow controls to ensure optimal performance while maintaining a safe environment. The cost for this project was $197,000 in which the federal Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program helped support.
