The Fondation de l’Hôpital d’Argenteuil-Argenteuil Hospital Foundation has announced the start of its fundraising campaign for PICC line facilities in the imaging department and the home support service at the Hopital d’Argenteuil in Lachute. Three major financial contributions have already been made to the campaign.

A PICC line is inserted into the forearm or upper arm of a patient to allow the delivery of medication for conditions such as infection, cancer treatment, and medical assistance in dying. PICC lines are also used to feed patients who cannot ingest food through their mouths.

In addition to tubing and equipment, PICC line installation requires access to a fluoroscope and a portable ultrasound machine. Those make it easier to perform other procedures, such as diagnostic tests, biopsies, and ultrasound-guided therapeutic infiltrations. The cost of that equipment for the imaging department is $57,000. The cost of acquiring the PICC equipment for the home support service team is $15,000.

Significant contributions toward the PICC line acquisition have already been received. Government funds of $15,000 from Argenteuil Member of the National Assembly Agnès Grondin have been contributed, a $20,000 donation has been received from Estate Argenteuil, and the Auxiliaires bénévoles de l’Hôpital d’Argenteuil hospital volunteer auxiliary has contributed $10,000.

“At the Fondation de l’Hôpital d’Argenteuil-Argenteuil Hospital Foundation, we are proud to contribute to the deployment of new services for the benefit of the population of Argenteuil and have done this for 20 years. On behalf of Board of Directors and the foundation team, I sincerely thank our partners who have already allowed us to reach nearly two-thirds of this fundraising campaign,” said foundation President Carl Couture.
