A municipal land sale in Brownsburg-Chatham means more new residential housing is likely for the southern part of the municipality.

At a special meeting on November 16, Brownsburg-Chatham council approved the sale of three parcels between Route des Outaouais (Route 344) and the Ottawa River to Groupe Lagarde Inc. for $1,696,000 plus taxes. The sale is the result of a request for proposal process inviting residential development on the three parcels. The properties are located east of Marina de l’Anse a Martha (Thomas Marine).

The town of Brownsburg-Chatham will continue to own land surrounding the properties where the development is proposed. According to Director-General Jean-François Brunet, the town will retain ownership of 66 per cent of the land and for natural preservation and recreational trails.

Mayor Kévin Maurice said the future development will be good for the municipality’s housing needs.
