To the Editor:

This weekend on TV was a special on the Holocaust and it really hit home of exactly what horrendous and evil things humans can do to other humans. The Rwandan genocide, the cleansing in Myanmar and last, but not least by a long shot, our Canadian residential schools. Your innocent and pure children stripped of their culture, their language, their very essence to be beaten, raped, and murdered before they ever had a chance to live a young beautiful life and while all this evil was happening in the schools the children’s mothers and sisters were being sterilized without their consent all this happening under the watchful eye of the government, our government.

Worldwide, we have 50 years of top soil left. Globally, we’ve wiped out 87 percent of our wetlands, 75 percent of our forests, and our fresh water reserves are dwindling. We are leaving the next generation a cesspool not a planet. The big question is are we doing all we can to help clean up our mess? No. Do we even care about the next generation? No. We’re all too busy living the life.

Now the big question: Will the next generation do all they can? No. Unfortunately the next generation has been coddled for so long they have a sense of entitlement as if the world owes them something. Let me enlighten you young people; the world owes you nothing, diddly squat.

You’re up against the wall right now. It’s something you can’t put off because there is no time. You must join forces with other young people around the world and create a movement, a power the likes of which has never been seen on the planet before. You must become a force to be reckoned with and with the help of social media you were raised on. It’s very doable.

Get your head out of your butt and face your future with clear eyes and thoughts. Don’t put this off if you do, you will be dead without ever even trying.

This ain’t a game and you’re the new warriors for this world. DO IT!

Respectfully,

Andy Perreault
