The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a theft of mail from Canada Post in Vankleek Hill. A suspect has been arrested and affected customers are being advised to contact the postal corporation.
Between January and March 2022, the Canada Post office located in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, was a victim of theft of mail. A male was arrested and charged, a significant amount of mail was recuperated, Canada Post is coordinating with police to assure a thorough investigation.
A 41-year-old man from Grenville, Québec was charged with:
· Theft from Mail – a key used by Canada Post
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
· Theft of credit card
· Two counts of Possession of property obtained by crime – under $5,000
The accused was detained and appeared at the l’Orignal Court of Justice on September 2, 2022.
