The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a fatal collision involving four vehicles. 

On August 16, 2022, around 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a collision on County Road 17 and County Road 9 in the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet. The initial investigation has indicated an eastbound vehicle struck another vehicle that was stopped in a road construction zone, causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles. 

A 28-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Names are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. 

A 43-year-old female in critical condition was airlifted to hospital by emergency helicopter. 

Another 33-year-old female and 9-year-old male received minor injuries. 
Hawkesbury OPP continue to investigate with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Reconstructionists.
