Improvements are on the way along the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail.

Grant funding has made it possible for new infrastructure to be added and existing infrastructure improved in the months ahead. There are also plans to implement a recreational equipment rental service for trail users.

As a result, the trail corporation is hiring a Project Coordinator to oversee the management and implementation of trail improvements and the rental program. The coordinator will oversee the work being done along the trail and also act as a liaison with the trail corporation board.

In November 2021, the Prescott-Russell  Trail Corporation assumed ownership of the former railroad right-of-way from VIA Rail Canada. The acquisition of the trail land has ensured there is a long-term future for the 72-kilometre recreational trail, which begins at the Ottawa city limits in the west and ends near St-Eugène in the east. The trail follows the land which formerly was a rail line.
