On Tuesday, May 7, Members of the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a bomb threat at the Rockland District High School and the Rockland Public School.

Shortly before 8 am, the OPP responded to a call regarding a bomb threat. Both schools were evacuated, a perimeter was established, and a search of the properties was completed. Once the properties were cleared and no safety issues identified, students were permitted to return to school. This is the second such threat involving Rockland District High School in the last two days.

Russell County OPP along with other OPP units continue to investigate and would like to remind members of the public that such events are punishable under numerous sections of the criminal code.
