A brush fire got out of control on a property in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge during the afternoon of Thursday, May 12.

According to Grenville-sur-la-Rouge Fire Chief Marc Montpetit, the fire on chemin McFarlane started out when someone was burning brush, but it grew beyond what they could manage.

Smoke was visible from Hawkesbury. The Grenville village fire department and the provincial forest firefighting agency SOPFEU, also assisted. Montpetit said 23 firefighters in total were at the scene.

No one was injured and no homes were affected by the fire.
