Researchers have confirmed a tornado occurred southeast of Casselman in La Nation on the afternoon of Sunday, May 15.
After days of unusually hot weather for mid-May, heavy thunderstorms moved across the region bringing cooler temperatures. According to the Northern Tornadoes Project, based at Western University in London, witnesses captured a landspout tornado on video over open fields at 4:23 p.m. Sunday.
The Northern Tornadoes Project map indicates the tornado was spotted southeast of the end of Concession 8 near the VIA Rail tracks, east of St-Albert Road (County Road 7).
The tornado did not cause any damage or injuries.
