A man is dead after being struck by a snow-removal tractor in Hawkesbury over the weekend.

On Saturday, February 12, around 9:15 a.m., members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Tupper Street in Hawkesbury. The accident occurred in an area of the roadway in between Spence Avenue and Tessier Street.

Initial investigation has indicated that shortly after 9:15 a.m., a southbound backhoe tractor struck a pedestrian, for reasons still under investigation. A 33-year-old male was driving the backhoe tractor. A 51-year-old male was pronounced deceased at scene.

Names are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

Hawkesbury OPP continue to investigate with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Reconstructionists.
