Inspector Chris McGillis of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) formally recognized Detective Sergeant Jocelyn Sauvé for receiving a Commissioners Commendation for creating a local abuse program in Prescott-Russell, on December 1.

Detective Sergeant Sauvé identified gaps in the treatment and collection of forensic evidence for victims of sexual and domestic violence.

The impact of a proper program for these victims is important to minimize re-victimization and ensure local access to support services. By collaborating with the Hawkesbury General Hospital, he promoted and advocated for an abuse care program in the community.

The program successfully launched in February 2019 and has a significant positive effect on the community.

Congratulations and appreciation are extended to now Staff Sergeant Jocelyn Sauvé of the Russell OPP detachment for this essential program for victims of violence.
