A logo contest for students is being held as part of the HOPE 225 project to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the founding of Vankleek Hill in 2022.
“We are exiting the pandemic in a disciplined manner, with hope for how we rebuild and move forward,” said Denis Seguin, a Vankleek Hill Historical Society director, explaining the theme of Hope/Espoir for the logo contest. “Here we are, 225 years later, and hope is what unites us in building bridges to new understandings of what represents our community.”
Local organizations and businesses are adding their public events to a 2022 community calendar. For example, in 2022 the Vankleek Hill Museum will open its permanent exhibit to celebrate the presence of the Indigenous peoples.
“The community calendar is where every idea lands,” explained Seguin, who is facilitating online meetings. Churches, schools, clubs, business, associations, municipal departments are busy with ideas and dates.
“It’s time for a logo, to bring easy recognition to promoting and advertising our anniversary year,” Seguin said.
The competition is open to all students who have a Champlain Township home address. Collaboration amongst students and with the arts
community is encouraged – make it a team effort! There are no fees for entry.
The logo must include the word “hope” or “l’espoir,” or a symbol of hope, and the number 225. It must be identifiable as Vankleek Hill, perhaps using letters or a creative symbol.
