A logo contest for students is being held as part of the HOPE 225 project to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the founding of Vankleek Hill in 2022.

“We are exiting the pandemic in a disciplined manner, with hope for how we rebuild and move forward,” said Denis Seguin, a Vankleek Hill Historical Society director, explaining the theme of Hope/Espoir for the logo contest. “Here we are, 225 years later, and hope is what unites us in building bridges to new understandings of what represents our community.”

Local organizations and businesses are adding their public events to a 2022 community calendar. For example, in 2022 the Vankleek Hill Museum will open its permanent exhibit to celebrate the presence of the Indigenous peoples.

“The community calendar is where every idea lands,” explained Seguin, who is facilitating online meetings. Churches, schools, clubs, business, associations, municipal departments are busy with ideas and dates.

“It’s time for a logo, to bring easy recognition to promoting and advertising our anniversary year,” Seguin said.
