An Amber Alert and Québec-wide searches remain in effect for David Côté and his son Jake Côté were last seen in St-Paule in the Bas St-Laurent region. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) believes the suspect could be looking for equipment to ensure his survival and facilitate his movements. An investigation has revealed he has in-depth knowledge of the forest environment and has the ability to quickly organize himself quickly for survival in the forest. It is possible he walked to chalets or other buildings to ensure his survival and that of his child, but the search is in effect across the entire province and part of New Brunswick. Police warn that David Côté is possibly armed and could act on impulse.

The SQ is not asking for public assistance in the search. People should not go into places where they could put themselves at risk. All field and aerial research resources of the SQ, and its partners are being used to locate the child and his father.

Anyone who thinks they have seen David or Jake Cote should notify the Sûreté du Québec by calling 911 and not try to interfere.
