A massive plow in St-Albert completed a new Guinness World Records mark on Saturday, August 22, producing 83 furrows during the record attempt. The plow measured approximately 80 feet wide and 327 feet long and was pulled across the field by a fleet of tractors.
The successful attempt at Ferme M. G. Laflèche on Route 700 West was the culmination of years of planning by organizer François Latour and a team of volunteers. The project had been in the works since 2020.
An official Guinness World Records adjudicator was on site for the attempt.
Organizers initially planned to attempt a record for the largest number of plowmen, then shifted the focus to the number of plow blades operating simultaneously.
Hundreds of spectators gathered for the event, which was held in conjunction with the Clarence-Rockland/Russell Plowing Match.
The event also featured a full day of antique farm machinery, plowing demonstrations, tractor displays, and other activities celebrating the area’s agricultural heritage.
The successful run capped years of work by organizers and gave spectators a rare look at one of the largest plowing operations ever attempted.
