Former Brownsburg-Chatham employee charged for alleged theft of municipal money

A former employee in Brownsburg-Chatham is facing charges of fraud and breach of confidence in a public official for allegedly taking municipal funds. According to municipal Director of Human Resources and Communications Lisa Cameron, an investigation was launched by the Unité permanente anticorruption (UPAC), Québec’s anti-corruption task force into the activities of the municipal employee which led to the charges.

The employee worked as a client service representative for the municipality between 2017 and 2019.

According to the municipality, less than $10,000 was allegedly taken.

The accused first appeared in court on June 29.
