The nomination period for the Société Économique de l’Ontario (SÉO) SME Gala is open.

“The SÉO is pleased to present the SME Gala, the objective of which is to celebrate the successes of French-speaking and bilingual companies whose activities take place mainly in Ontario,” said the president of the Société Économique de l’Ontario, Denis Laframboise.”

Interested parties have until July 16, 2021, to submit nominations from eligible businesses. A jury composed of independent members will have to choose the winners in five categories: Favorite of the year award, Eco-responsible business award, Young entrepreneur award, Immigrant entrepreneur award, Woman award entrepreneur, Lifetime Achievement Award.

For twenty years, the SÉO has offered various services to entrepreneurs. It offers them personalized support, mentoring, online training, workshops, and webinars. It also organizes networking events, makes resources available to them, and supports them in their funding requests. Last year, the SÉO supported more than a thousand entrepreneurs across the province.

The tribute evening is an opportunity to celebrate entrepreneurs following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of upheaval in the business community here and elsewhere,” continued Laframboise. “So this is an opportunity to turn the page and celebrate our businesses, support them, encourage them and inspire them. Above all, this is the time to rejoice.”

The winners of the SMEs Gala will be officially unveiled on October 28. This evening will be used to mark the 20th anniversary of the SÉO, as well as to thank the builders who helped make the SÉO what it is today.

The SÉO has some 45 employees who continue to perpetuate the mission of the SÉO, which is to ensure the economic development of Francophone and bilingual communities by adopting a collaborative approach.
