As of Friday, May 14, the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority reported nine active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 across Argenteuil remained at 24 as of Friday.

Across the Laurentides region of Québec, there was a total of 272 active cases of COVID-19 as of May 14.

Vaccination information

Effective May 14, COVID-19 vaccination appointments are available to all adults aged 18 and greater in Québec.

The Québec department of health and social services reported that 274,162 COVID-19 vaccine doses been administered across the Laurentides territory as of Friday. Across Québec, 4,127,768 vaccine doses had been administered as of Friday.

On Thursday, use of the AstraZeneca vaccine as a first dose was suspended in Québec due to continued concerns resulting from blood clots which some individuals developed after receiving the vaccine.

Cases in schools and long-term care facilities

According to the Québec government, there were active cases of COVID-19 as of May 14 at the following schools in MRC d’Argenteuil communities:

Polyvalente Lavigne in Lachute

As of Friday, there were no active cases of COVID-19 at long-term care or retirement residences in the MRC d’Argenteuil.

Québec statistics

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 7,653 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Friday, May 14, and there were 838 new cases across Québec on Friday.

There were 530 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of Friday, and 123 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 11,025 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of May 14, which was an increase of eight deaths from May 13.

On May 10, the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority that every resident of a long-term care facility in the region had received their second COVID-19 vaccination.

Restrictions

Under Québec’s regional system of COVID-19 emergency measures, the MRC d’Argenteuil, and the entire Laurentides region, is a red zone.

The curfew between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private land, and compulsory working from home remain in effect. Entry into Québec from Ontario is also restricted in response to Ontario closing its border to non-essential traffic until June 2.
