The number of active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil remained at 13 cases as of Tuesday, May 4, according to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority.  The total had been 13 active cases since Friday, April 30.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 across Argenteuil also remained unchanged at 24 as of Tuesday.

Across the Laurentides region of Québec, there was a total of 347 active cases of COVID-19 as of May 4, which was eight more cases than there had been on Monday, May 3.

Vaccination information

Québec is phasing in making COVID-19 vaccination appointments available to all adults age 18 and older over the next 10 days.

The Québec department of health and social services reported that 224,276 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered across the Laurentides territory as of Tuesday.

Astra-Zeneca COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered to adults ages 45 to 79 at clinics without appointment across the Laurentides region.

For all other vaccinations, residents of the Laurentides region of Québec age 45 (born in 1976 or before) and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as of May 3. As of May 5, all Québec residents age 40 and older (born in 1981) or before will be eligible. Effective Friday, May 7, all Québec residents age 35 and older (born in 1986 or before) will be eligible to make a vaccination appointment. Vaccinations MUST be made by appointment and can be scheduled by going to QUÉBEC.CA/VACCINCOVID or by calling 1-866-495-5833.

Cases in schools and long-term care facilities

According to the Québec government, there were active cases of COVID-19 as of May 4 at the following schools in MRC d’Argenteuil communities:

École Dansereau – St-Martin in Grenville

École St-Alexandre in Lachute

Polyvalente Lavigne in Lachute

As of Tuesday, there were no active cases of COVID-19 at long-term care or retirement residences in the MRC d’Argenteuil.

Québec statistics

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 8,892 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Tuesday, May 4, and there were 797 new cases across Québec on Tuesday.

There were 588 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of Monday, and 151 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 10,959 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of May 4, which was an increase of 15 deaths from May 3.

Across Québec, 3,308,542 vaccine doses had been administered as of Tuesday.

Restrictions

Under Québec’s regional system of COVID-19 emergency measures, the MRC d’Argenteuil, and the entire Laurentides region, is a red zone.

The curfew between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private land, and compulsory working from home remain in effect. Entry into Québec from Ontario is also restricted in response to Ontario closing its border to non-essential traffic until May 20.
