Recently, Lachute council approved a resolution stating that the remuneration they will receive in 2021 will be the same amount they received in 2020.  However, the municipal regulation on remuneration states that the amount each member of council is paid each year is indexed for cost of living and inflation, which means that each salary increases by 1.7 per cent each year.

The total, combined remuneration paid to all members of Lachute council in 2019, including the base amount and adjustment amount, was $214,930.68.  In 2020, the total remuneration for all council members was $218,585.32, which represents an increase of $3,654.54 from 2019.

In 2019, Mayor Carl Péloquin received a total base salary of $54,106.68 for the entire year which represented $4,508.89 per month.  He also received $1,397.25 per month or $16,767 for the entire year in 2019 for the 1.7 per cent adjustment, bringing his total remuneration for that year to $70,873.68.

Péloquin’s remuneration for 2020 was a base amount of $4,586.21 per month for a total of $55,034.57 for the entire year.  Additionally, Péloquin was paid $1,420.33 per month in 2020 for the 1.7 per cent adjustment which resulted in $17,044 for the whole year.  When the base amount and the adjustment amount are combined, Péloquin was paid $72,078.57.

Lachute Deputy Mayor Denis Richer was paid a base amount of $1,637.20 per month and $19,646.40 for the entire year in 2019.  When the expense allowance of $818.60 per month or $9,823.20 for the whole year is added, Richer was paid $29,469.60 for his service in 2019.  In 2020, Richer’s base remuneration amount was $1,655.03 per month or $19,980.37 for the whole year.  Richer was also paid $832.52 per month for the 1.7 per cent adjustment, for a yearly total of $9,990.18, which means that Richer’s total remuneration from the Ville de Lachute in 2020 was $29,970.55.

There are five other councillors serving in Lachute.  They are Patrick Cadieux, Guylaine Desforges, Hugo Lajoie, Alain Lanoue, and Serge Lachance.  In 2019, all of them were paid the same base remuneration of $15,278.28 for the entire year which represented $1,273.19 per month.  Each councillor was also paid $7,639.20 for the 1.7 per cent adjustment in 2019 which represented $636.60 per month.  When the adjustment amounts and base amounts are combined, each Lachute councillor received $22,917.48 in municipal remuneration in 2019.

In 2020, Cadieux, Desforges, Lajoie, Lanoue, and Lachance were paid a yearly base amount of $15,538.02, which represents $1,294.84 per month.  The yearly 1.7 per cent adjustment amount for each councillor in 2020 was $7,069.02 which represents $647.42 per month.  Each of the five councillors were paid a total of $23,307.04 from the Ville de Lachute in 2020 when the base amounts and adjustment amounts are combined.
