Hawkesbury mayor and council 2020 remunerations released

The mayor and councillors in the Town of Hawkesbury collected a combined total of $183,117.68 in remuneration in 2020.  The total includes amounts members of council received for various expenses and if they received additional remuneration as members of municipal boards.

Mayor Paula Assaly’s 2020 base remuneration was $45,955,91.  In addition to that amount, she was paid $1,053.23 by the town for expenses which included $536.04 for public relations, the standard amount of $480 paid to all council members for telephone costs, and $37.19 in convention expenses.  As a result of the expense-related payments, Assaly’s total remuneration for 2020 was $47,009.14.

Among the six councillors, Lawrence Bogue was paid $20,205.97 as a base salary in 2020, and $480 for telephone expenses, which brought his total remuneration as a councillor to $20,685.97.

Bogue is also a member of the Hawkesbury Hydro board and was paid $2,000 for that role in 2020.  When the council remuneration and hydro board remuneration are combined, Bogue received $22,685.97 from the town in 2020.

In 2020, Councillor Raymond Campbell was paid a base amount of $20,205.97 plus $480 for telephone expenses.  His total remuneration for the year was $20,685.97.

Councillor André Chamaillard, who is one of two second-term members of council, received a base salary of $20,404.15 in 2020.  He was also paid $1,005 in expenses which included $525 for other meetings and the telephone expense amount of $480 which resulted in a total remuneration as a councillor of $21,409.15 in 2020.

Additionally, Chamaillard is a member of the Hawkesbury Hydro board and was paid $2,000 for that role in 2020.  When added to his remuneration as a councillor, Chamaillard was paid $23,409.15 in 2020.

Lefebvre was paid a base amount of $20,205.97 and $480 for telephone expenses, which brought his total council remuneration for 2020 to $20,685.97.

Lefebvre is Chair of the Hawkesbury Police Services Board and was paid $3,144 for that role in 2020, and $229.52 for police services board related expenses for a total amount of $3,373.52.  When the police services board amount is added to the amount Lefebvre received as a councillor, his total 2020 remuneration was  $24,059.49.

Councillor Yves Paquette, the other second-term councillor, received a base remuneration for 2020 of $20,404.15 and $1,024.90 for expenses, which included $544.90 for conferences and the $480 telephone amount.  Paquette’s total council remuneration for 2020 was $21,429.05.

In addition to serving as a councillor, Paquette is also a member of the Hawkesbury Hydro board and was paid $2,000 for that role in 2020.  When added to his remuneration as a councillor, Paquette received a total of $23,429.05 in 2020.

Councillor Antonios Tsourounakis was paid a base salary of $20,205.97 and the $480 for telephone expenses for a total council remuneration of $20,685.97.

Tsourounakis is also a member of the Hawkesbury Public Library Board and was paid $1,152.94 for that role in 2020.  When added to his remuneration as a councillor, his complete municipal compensation during the year was $21,838.91.

The combined amount of municipal remuneration paid to the six Hawkesbury councillors in 2020 was $136,108.54.
