Active COVID-19 cases across the jurisdiction of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) continued to decrease. As of Wednesday, January 20, there were 560 active cases across the EOHU territory, which was 18 fewer than on January 19.
There were 26 COVID-19 patients from the EOHU’s territory in hospital as of January 20 and six of those patients were in intensive care.
The number of deaths resulting from COVID-19 across the area served by the EOHU had increased to 48 as of January 20, from 46 on January 19.

The Provincewide Shutdown and stay-at-home order remain in effect across the province of Ontario.
As of January 20, there were 2,655 new, active cases of COVID-19 across Ontario from January 19. According to calculations based on statistics from the Ministry of Health, there were 26,467 active cases of COVID-19 across Ontario as of Wednesday.
There were 1,598 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Ontario as of January 20. Out of those patients, 395 were in intensive care, and 296 patients were on ventilators.
There had been 5,568 deaths due to COVID-19 across Ontario as of January 20, which was an increase of 89 deaths from January 19.
