The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a party in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge that allegedly violated Québec’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Grenville-sur-la-Rouge is in a designated orange zone where current rules allow for a maximum of six people at in indoor gathering, according SQ Sergeant Marc Tessier.  He said that least 15 people who were present at the party will face fines of $1,000 each.

The police investigation is ongoing.  Tessier said that the Crown Attorney’s Office is currently processing the paperwork to issue the infractions.

A video circulated on social media of party goers standing and sitting less than two metres/six feet apart, and not wearing masks.  Some made comments or obscene gestures about the COVID-19 restrictions and Québec Premier François Legault.

Tessier said that police also received calls about the party and that their reason for showing up at the scene was not based on the video alone.
