Champlain Township’s library staff missed seeing you! The Champlain Library is beginning the Browse & Borrow phase of its Stage 3 Reopening Plan.  On August 4, the library will be opening its doors once again to provide the services of browsing and borrowing of materials, picking up holds and using a socially- distanced computer. The opening hours will be Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 5 pm.

The Champlain Library is committed to providing services to its community, while maintaining a safe environment for both staff and patrons.  In order to work together and keep everyone safe, the following guidelines have been implemented when visiting the library.

There will be a limited number of people allowed in the building.  Hand sanitizer will be present at the door – patrons are asked to disinfect their hands when entering the library, and advised to disinfect their hands when leaving the library as well.

Wear a face mask.  For the protection of staff and patrons face masks will be mandatory in the library.  If you are unable to wear a mask the staff will be happy to provide you with curbside pickup service.

Follow the signs and keep two metres apart.  Directional arrows will guide patrons through the library.  Please follow all signage and keep a safe distance.  Due to space restrictions only one family at a time will be allowed in the kids, junior, and teen rooms.

Feeling sick? Please stay at home.  The library asks patrons to not visit the library if ill or showing symptoms. Items can be renewed by phone or through their account online at www.bc-cl.ca.

Keep the visit short.  Patrons are asked to browse efficiently to ensure everyone is able to get the materials they need without undue delay.

Additional safety measures have been put into place.  High touch items like newspapers and children’s toys have been temporarily removed from the library.  Acrylic panels have been placed at the front desk to ensure staff and public safety during customer service interactions.  One Public Internet Station is available for use with a time limit of 30 mins/day.  This station will be disinfected after every use.

All library materials must be returned to the book drop located outside the library so that they can be easily quarantined.  Staff will quarantine all returned items for 72 hours.  To ensure staff safety please have exact change for any fines or fees.

Although the library will begin to offer many services, the following services are not available during this phase: in-house events and programming (see our activity calendar for online and at-home programming), meeting rooms, seating areas and public washrooms, kids’ games and toys.
