Police think 551 Main Street may have been set on fire deliberately, seeking the public’s help

The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation of a suspicious fire.

On May 26, 2020, shortly before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a structure fire at a snack bar at 551 Main Street East in Hawkesbury. The Hawkesbury Fire Department was already on the scene battling the flames. The building was heavily damaged and the fire department advised that there were signs the fire had been deliberately set.

Members of the Hawkesbury Detachment and Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit are continuing the investigation and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted.
