Overnight summer camps are not opening in Québec this summer, but Premier François Legault announced on Thursday that public health authorities have given their approval to the opening of local day camps on June 22.  Hygiene measures and rules of distancing must however be respected, and preventive measures must be deployed to avoid the spread of the coronavirus between children and their monitors.

The Premier also took the opportunity to appeal to adolescents and young adults: “We have a big recruitment challenge. Municipalities are looking for monitors. It’s a great experience to work all summer! I appeal to all young people!” said Legault.

The Premier also indicated that discussions have yet to take place with the public health authorities for the opening this summer of certain summer camps that cater to campers with special needs.
