An employee at a supermarket in Lachute has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a Facebook post from S. Albert IGA on Monday, May 4, a cashier at the store on avenue Bethany went to the hospital emergency room at the first sign of a sore throat and later tested positive.  The last day that the employee worked at the store was April 27.

More than 100 people work at the store, and following directions from Québec public health and IGA parent company Sobeys, the management immediately ordered the 14 employees who encountered the cashier to quarantine at home.

On Thursday, April 30, the store has been fully disinfected, and the management wants to reassure the public that they have done everything within their control following the positive test to protect customers.

Store management is not aware of when and how the cashier contracted COVID-19.
