Most municipal offices are closed to the public, but staff are working to ensure the continuation of essential services. Call your municipality or email if you need information or help.
Champlain Township:
Garbage collection is taking place as usual in Champlain Township, as is recycling collection.
But the household hazardous waste collection day, originally scheduled for May 2, 2020, has been cancelled. Likewise, the spring garbage collection day has been cancelled (this special collection usually took place in April or May 2020).
n the current situation, the Township of Champlain is multiplying its prevention measures by closing access to Municipal premises and installations until further notice. These include:
- Municipal Office
- Building Department
- Arena
- Community Centres
- Library
- Parks
Town of Hawkesbury:
Garbage collection is taking place as usual in the Town of Hawkesbury, as is recycling collection.
The large garbage collection has been cancelled.
During the COVID-19 emergency, council has approved the suspension of penalty fees for property taxes until May 31, 2020.
Payments for user fees, water and sewer taxes, dog licences, and business licences are also suspended until May 31, 2020.
East Hawkesbury:
The township offices in St-Eugène are closed to the public. Residents may still communicate with staff and council by phone or email.
Payments of taxes or other fees may be left in the payment box next to the main entrance of the township office. Payments can also be made at financial institutions.
All garbage for pickup must be in bags during the pandemic emergency, or it will not be picked up. Large garbage is not being collected during the pandemic period.
The Nation Municipality:
The municipal offices, community centres, arena, libraries, parks, and landfill sites are closed to the public until further notice. Garbage and recycling pickup is continuing as usual, but the spring cleanup has been postponed.
The deadline for payment of water and sewage fees has been extended to May 29, 2020.
No interest will be charged before May 31, 2020 on taxes due on March 27, 2020.
The deadline for the second payment of taxes remains May 29, 2020.
Payments may be left in the secure drop box outside the municipal office building.
Alfred and Plantagenet:
All municipal facilities are closed to the public, tentatively until April 6.
No changes have been made to payment dates for property taxes and water and sewer rates. However, no interest will be charged on late payments before June 1, 2020. Payments may be made through financial institutions, sent by mail, or left in the secure drop box outside the municipal office building in Plantagenet.
No penalty for non-payment of dog licence fees will be incurred before June 1, 2020.
Garbage collection is taking place as normal. The landfill site is closed.
Residents who are sick are asked to place all recyclable items that come into contact with their nose or mouth into the regular garbage instead of the blue box.
Casselman:
The municipal offices and all other municipal facilities are closed to the public. Payments for taxes and other fees can be made online or at the vault by the entrance of the municipal office.
Clarence-Rockland:
Clarence-Rockland council has adopted measures which it says will provide relief to residents during the COVID-19 threat.
Daycare client accounts will be credited for lost days; it has been confirmed that there will be no fees charged to daycare clients until the service resumes its operations.
Taxpayers’ second interim tax levy instalment payment date is extended to May 31, 2020.
Taxpayers’ water and sewer due date is extended to May 31, 2020.
Arrear notices and tax sales procedures are suspended until June 2020.
Please note that access to play structures, skate parks and sports fields is prohibited until April 14, 2020.
Municipal parks, including the off-leash dog park, remain open however, gatherings are forbidden. Residents must keep a distance of two metres between them and respect social distancing directives at all times. It is also requested that residents refrain from using outdoor furniture, such as picnic tables and benches, in parks and public spaces.
Please also note that the closure of municipal recreation facilities has been postponed to April 14th, 2020. This measure affects the Clarence-Rockland Arena (CIH), the Clarence Creek Arena, the Cultural and Recreation Complex (YMCA and Public Library) as well as community halls.
These closures may be extended depending on the Health Unit’s forthcoming directives.

North Glengarry:
All township facilities are closed to public access.
No interest will be charged on overdue tax, water, and sewer accounts for April and May.
Garbage bag limits have been temporarily lifted. Household hazardous waste day and Pitch-In litter cleanup week have been postponed.
Québec municipalities
Grenville-sur-la-Rouge
The municipal office in Calumet is closed to the public, but can be reached by phone during regular business hours.
The property tax payment due on March 19 has been deferred at least until April 20, 2020.
Village de Grenville
The village office, community centre, library, and youth centre are closed to the public.
No interest will be charged on the tax payment due May 21 2020 until June 31, 2020.
Brownsburg-Chatham
All municipal offices and facilities are closed to the public.
The town has eliminated interest on unpaid property taxes that were due on March 18, 2020, and May 15 2020, until June 30, 2020.
Taxes can be payed at financial institutions, by cheque or money order by mail, and at the drop box outside the municipal office building in Brownsburg.
Ville de Lachute
The city hall and all other municipal buildings are closed to public access.
Interest has been removed on late payment of property taxes that were due on April 1.
Taxes and other fees may be paid at financial institutions, by mail, or at the payment box outside city hall.
St-André-d’Argenteuil
The municipal office building is closed to the public.
Interest has been removed on late payment of property taxes that were due on April 1.
