Dalkeith…Plus! celebrates its third anniversary with a brunch

Dalkeith…Plus! welcomes the public to join members and volunteers to celebrate its third anniversary on Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The third anniversary of Dalkeith…Plus is a potluck brunch event, with a cake-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m.. The brunch is free to attend; attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck contribution to share.

For more information, phone 613 874 2337, or visit during library hours (Wed, Thurs, Fri 10 to 4, and Sat 10 to 1). Dalkeith…Plus is located at 1835 County Road 23, just north of the stop sign in Dalkeith.

Background

Dalkeith…Plus opened in November of 2016, two months after Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Library closed its Dalkeith branch. Closure of the public library left the northeast corner of North Glengarry without library services. Community members, upset with the decision to close, channeled their collective energy to launch a community-based library of their own.

Dalkeith…Plus is a re-imagined library, devoted to the particular needs of its community. It is staffed by volunteers, and headed by a volunteer manager and board of directors. Most library materials at Dalkeith…Plus—including its 7000-book collection—are donated. The library receives no public funding.  The library’s members pay a modest annual membership fee to cover operational expenses, and the Township of North Glengarry generously provides and maintains the library building.
